About

hi! Welcome to our blog – we set this up to share our travels aboard our 36′ Jeanneau Sailboat. A bit about us:

About Ray: a lifelong sailor, Ray’s first trip on a boat was at 3 days old, in the Great Lakes where he was born. His father, Ray Sr., still singlehands a sailboat at the age of 92. Ray is a Past Commodore of the Bellingham Yacht Club, active in both social and racing programs there. Other interests include scuba diving, flying, and of course travel.

About Sally: Before I met Ray, I’d been on a sailboat about twice. Within the first 6 months of dating, I started to crew on Wednesday night racing with friends on Catspaw, owned by Al and Karen Callery. (Thanks for giving me my first taste!) Now, almost 7 years later, I’m thoroughly hooked. I race a bit, but I actually love cruising the most. I also scuba dive (though not like Ray does), and love yoga, pilates, reading and photography. I have 3 daughters, Abby, Kayla & Tierney. They sometimes like to cruise, and Tierney does race committee work for the BYC.

About Jack: he is our 1 1/2 year old Jackhuahua (Jack Russell terrier / Chihuahua mix), and seems to be a born boat-dog. You’ll see him lots in photos.

About BYC Member blogs: Sally is the webmaster for the BYC – it’s her pet project that we get some cruising blogs (and racing blogs) started by members. If you’d like one set up for your boat (and you’re a BYC member) email her at mermaid@zeninternet.com and she’ll be glad to help.
